WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) is our women’s group at St. Peter Lutheran Church. If you are a female member of St. Peter, you are a member of WELCA!
OUR PURPOSE: As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society , and the world.
WELCA is an active part of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Our COMMITMENT is to:
a. Come together for study, support and action
b. Participate in the ministry of Women of ELCA beyond the congregation
c. Support financially the total program of Women of the ELCA
d. Designate leadership that shall be in communication with the synodical and churchwide women's organization
Prayer Shawl Ministry: A prayer shawl is intended to be a reminder of God's ever-present love which is as near to you as your own body is to your spirit. It is a gift for every time and every occasion, joyful or sorrowful, for every season and circumstance of life, chosen and unchosen. Our ladies meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 3:00 pm in the conference room. If you crochet or knit or would like to learn, please join us.
MISSION
Growth: To provide a variety of learning experiences which strengthen each wooman as a whole person, develop her potential, and equip her for ministry.
Community: To enable each woman to value herself and others as created in God's image and redeemed through Christ; and to build up and celebrate relationships which are global, diverse, and interdependent.
Action: To enable women to articulate and act upon their faith as disciples of Christ in all arenas of life.
